We look for enthusiastic and outgoing individuals to join our motivated and experienced team.  Walby Farm Park is a successful and multi-award winning visitor attraction in north Cumbria, attracting many day visitors and regular Annual Pass holders.

Livestock Assistant Manager

5 days per week

Alternate weekends are required as they are our busiest times

Rate of pay highly competitive

Rain or shine, open every day 10am to 5.30pm (except Christmas bank holidays) Walby Farm Park is a great place for visitors to learn about animals, has the largest indoor play area in Cumbria, and has a brilliant team of employees which we would love you to join.

This role is all about helping to manage safe and effective day to day care of all animals, upholding the highest welfare standards whilst engaging with visitors to provide a fun and educational experience via practical demonstrations and hands on experiences.  As well as effective proactive and safe maintenance of our facilities, you will carry out successful and memorable farming demonstrations, tractor and trailer tours, feeding, animal interaction, talks and demonstrations.   You will also play a fully contributory part in the commercial farm with a flock of over 300 ewes as well as the larger arable and grassland unit

To be successful you will be able to demonstrate:-

  • Agricultural qualification, strong skills or experience
  • Satisfactory Enhanced DBS check
  • Full driving licence AND Tractor Driving Licence
  • B+E Trailer Test – highly desirable
  • Telescopic Handler Certificate – highly desirable
  • Willingness to work towards both a Level 2 and Level 3 Qualification in relevant area of work

Welcome Host (Reception and some Retail)

3 days per week

Additional hours will be available during weekends and school holidays

  • assisting in some aspects of retail operations
  • delivering amazing customer service and care
  • providing a proactive exceptionally welcoming, friendly and profitable customer service experience for visitors to the attraction.
  • at all times, upholding the values of the company and the expectations and welfare of customers, staff and animals.
  • ensuring that all visitors to the attraction have a fantastic experience, every time.

To be successful you will be able to demonstrate:-

  • excellent interpersonal skills
  • strong reception, customer care and admin skills
  • skills or experience of working with young people/children in practical environment
  • your ability to prioritise and manage your work load
  • your work experience in any similar setting (ideally)
  • that you are willing and capable of learning new skills and undertaking training to completion
  • working under pressure during busy times whilst still giving a brilliant customer experience
